The best self-help books

Reading has always been an interest of mine. I started reading when I was five years old and haven’t stopped since then. I’ve been reading a lot of self-help books for over a year now!

So here are a few personal development books that I have really enjoyed and would like to recommend to you!

A BOOK ABOUT REFLEXION: THE ALCHIMIST- PAULO COELHO

the alchemist

How can I express to you that this novel totally transformed me, and left a permanent mark on me?

It was the first self-help book I read (it is available in French as well; it has been translated into 81 languages).

It’s all about travel, personal legends, quest for happiness, adventure, hope, and spirituality!

It is for me an essential book that many people can enjoy. Easy to read, not too long, I recommend it as a first book if you want to start opening up a bit to personal growth.

This book spoke to me as it was so well-written and dreamy (I am a great dreamer and adventurer in my heart).

If you are the same way, I cannot advise you more to read it!

A BOOK ABOUT ACTION: FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY- SUSAN JEFFERS

self help book

I enjoyed about this book so muuuch !

He has helped me in a period where I questioned my abilities and was afraid to tackle my projects. He has helped me move forward.

He really inspired me. He gave me the courage, the confidence and the motivation to face my fears and pursue my projects.

The talented writer Susan Jeffers inspires her readers to learn to overcome situations that seem too complicated for them.

Taking action requires we detach ourselves from our fears as well as from the eyes of others.

I love the way she writes, which allows us to feel close to her.

So far, this book has inspired me the most to pursue my dreams.

A BOOK ABOUT HOPE: EVERY THING IS FUCKED- MARK MANSON

personal development book

Haaaaa Mark Manson! We like him or we don’t, personally I love him.

His book was very direct and full of irony, and his thesis was that humanity has never been so advanced as today, but paradoxically, people have never been so sad.

I won’t tell you more, but if you want a positive outlook on life, I recommend that you read this inspirational book that goes off the beaten track.

HOW TO LEARN TO LET IT GO: THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A FUCK- MARK MANSON

self help book

Another Mark Manson book! I discovered this one in Australia, and it is the first one I have read by him.

It allows us to learn to relativize our problems, to let go, without underestimating what really matters.

I learned a lot from this book. I used to worry about some things when I should have focused on the important things.

My recommendation is that you read it as well. It can make you aware of many things that we forget too often!

HOW TO ENJOY THE PRESENT MOMENT: THE POWER OF NOW, A GUIDE TO SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT- ECKHART TOLLE

mindfulness book

The Power of Now is also available in French.

I also found it very helpful.

He talks about a state of mindfulness, in which one enjoys the present moment, and stops living in the past or the future.

This book is useful for people who spend too much time thinking about the past or the future.

A BOOK ABOUT HOW TO SLOW DOWN: THE HAPPINESS PROJECT- GRETCHEN RUBIN

personal development book

This is the first self-help book I came across in Australia, which is why even talking about it makes me emotional.

It’s also available in French under the name « Operation Happiness ».

The author of this book argues that today most people are overwhelmed with their lives.

We don’t take the time to live and recharge our batteries.

Gretchen gives us lots of great advice and tips on how to find serenity and happiness in this positive psychology book.

I enjoyed this book so much I’m thinking of buying it this time (I borrowed it in Australia), and reading it a second time!

A BOOK ABOUT A GOOD ROUTINE: THE POWER OF HABIT- CHARLES DUHIGG

self help book

I’d qualify this book by Charles Duhigg simply amazing, and so true!

We don’t think about it enough, but what motivates us to brush our teeth every day? (Apart from hygiene, of course), it’s the habit itself!

So why not adopt good habits? The book explains how to achieve a virtuous circle that creates new habits for you.

So after this book, I promise you’ll finally be able to do your three workouts a week, drink more water or to finish to write your pages for your article!

A BOOK ABOUT SELF-APPROVAL! : STOP CHECKING YOUR LIKES- SUSIE MOORE

self help book

Whoa, whoa, whoa and whoa! I enjoyed this book so much!

I, who had been fighting to detach myself from the judgment of others, was right on time when I came across this book!

I love Susie’s way of writing that explains in words how to change your outlook and do whatever you like before thinking about what others will think of you.

I will only say that I recommend this book to you 2000%! It transformed me. You NEED to read it!
