The definition of personal development

What is personal development?

Personal development is an extremely broad topic, which is why it can be difficult to define it properly.

My opinion is that it’s a way of thinking, a set of tools that help to make you become your best self. However, it’s not just that. As a society, we tend to fix what doesn’t work for us, instead of pursuing what is already working.

Personal development works differently for everyone. Not everything works for everyone, and each individual has their own tools, some are better suited for one person than others.

I see this as a real philosophy, as I like to call it my “religion”, my personal “belief”. Finally, there are no rules, personal development is something that only comes from within.

You have to be strong-willed, positive, and take a chance on it. But I guarantee, if you do, you won’t regret it. It has been a life-changing experience for me.

So, what has this famous “personal development” to do with? Your overall well-being.
Your personal, professional, and social well-being. It goes through your mindset, your self-love, your nutrition, your movement, your spirituality, and so much more…

How Did I get interest in Personal Development?

A year and a half ago I came to Australia for my gap year on a working holiday visa. It was my first big solo trip so far away from home, an introspection that brought me closer to myself.

After living in Melbourne for five months, it was the first time I stayed mobile for so long without moving in another part of the country. Then, I went to the nearest library to borrow some books.

The department of « personal development » caught my attention. I came home with over seven books on the subject! They dealt with well-being at work, the power of habits, inspiring women working in business…

I have read only super inspiring books that have inspired me to adopt personal development as a way of life.

I then began by doing exercises like writing my life diary, exercising again, starting yoga and meditation, eating healthier, listening more to my body, looking at my dreams and ambitions.

Until the day when I adopted my personal development on a daily basis.

I now write every day, reflect daily, watch coaching videos and train for free thanks to my online business, exercise regularly, meditate everyday, listen to my body and nourish it the way it deserves.

Now, I take care of myself, I learn how to stress less and relativize daily, and I finally believe in my dreams.

A continual path

Personal development is a continuous path. It is an inexhaustible process of self-development. Every day we grow, we evolve, we never stop learning to know each other better, to love each other, to improve ourselves.

The most important thing is the journey, not the destination. Because in reality, if you adopt this philosophy, every day will be a new destination. I assure you!
