Writing was probably for me, along with reading, one of the best ways to get to know myself better, to grow, and to become the best version of myself.
The writing benefits
Writing is good, it alleviates our sorrows and allows us to note the positive, to gain optimism, and lightness. This helps to make a point, to relieve stress, to reduce pain but also to achieve our goals.
Try to write. Buy yourself a notebook that will act as a diary, a journal of life, call it what you want. Writing for even ten minutes a day has a real impact on our mental health. This allows us to be more attentive to our emotions, to succeed in welcoming them. Whether it’s in the morning to start the day off right, and / or in the evening to take stock and be proud of what you’ve done today.
Expressive writing improves self-acceptance but also helps to fight negative thoughts that arise, as well as avoidance strategies: (these are the actions we take to escape stressors which are harmful and only complicate matters).
Write to forgive yourself
It was for me, a great way to forgive myself, to remove all regrets about the choices I’ve made in my life that weighed on me. To start over, to turn the page, to move forward, to focus on my dreams so they can become projects!
Noting on paper the hard, traumatic events of our life is an excellent way to evacuate and to better overcome them. Indeed, writing allows you to confront your thoughts and emotions, to externalize them and therefore to analyse them better.
But it’s not just about the past that it’s important to write. Confiding in a journal your anxiety related to a stressful future event, can allow you to better apprehend it and even transform it into a future positive thing …
Write to reach your goals
No, there is nothing magical about it! Writing clearly defining your goals and writing them down regularly is a first step in achieving them. Why ? Because writing them down is a first step which, psychologically, forces us to stick to them. It conducts to achieve our goals by taking action. We are kind of fooling our brain by telling it what to do;). Try it and you’ll see, personally, it worked for me!
It also allows you to be creative and surprise yourself with new ideas that you would not have thought of! 😉 Cause writing also increase creativity.
Finally, you’ll understand, writing has many benefits and can become a real therapy for you.
I am currently writing my first personal development book. I invite you to wait a little while for the first digital version that I will release, which will also develop the subject of the power of writing and all its benefits.
